Happy 2025! Welcome to the future.
This is the time of year for reviewing our goals and making new ones, and while you may not have been looking at your tech for milestones, this is actually a great way to make improvements and have the means to measure them.
Let’s look at some ways you can make a difference this year.
Get rid of email
Someone, somewhere told everyone that they should save #allthethings and we’re still doing it all these years later.
It’s so easy to save your email, assuming it will come in handy at some point. “The cost is just storage space!” we say, which seems to be ubiquitous and cheap. But there are costs for keeping all those messages.
Important messages are lost in a sea of junk when you’re frantically trying to actually find something important. Also, it turns out that we keep email accounts for years now, meaning that storage space is actually starting to fill up. And consider the load on the servers storing those messages and their backups (and the backup backups). Not to mention the energy to manage all these things.
Bonus points for taking time to unsubscribe from #allthethings and stop email before it starts.
Finally get that Password Manager set up
You need a password manager.
It’s 2025, and if you don’t have one (or if you aren’t using it) then make this your resolution.
Some password managers are better than others. For example, I strongly recommend that LastPass users reconsider their choices and look to migrate to a new tool. But in general, any password manager is better than no password manager.
How serious am I about this? Hire me to help you and/or your company with rolling out your password manager tool and I will give you a 15% discount (mention this offer). Just because I think you need one that much.

Tech Impact
If you want to make an impact, the best way to start is by knowing where you are now. You can’t measure improvement without a baseline.
Take a look at these Resources to find tools that can measure your website carbon impact, assess the spammyness of you emails, or rate your favorite AI tool for energy usage. I suggest selecting one or two that are meaningful to you or your organization, and working on them over the course of the year.
These make the best kind of goals – measurable and specific. You can feel good about your impact and share it with others to keep your community inspired for 2025.
