Looking ahead: Goals for 2025

Our Impact

Last Tuesday was Earth Day, and we used that opportunity to celebrate by releasing our 2024 Impact Report!

This was a big one for us, folks. We achieved B Corp certification last August and it was fun to relive the work and achievements of 2024.

It’s also an opportunity to dream of what’s to come.

We achieved most of our goals, including B Corp certification and increases in working with local and Women and/or BIPOC-owned vendors. We also donated more than 200 trees via One Tree Planted – with help from many of you! – thanks our policy to plant trees for new contracts and client meetings.

We take great pride in trying to collect data and feedback on our work in pursuit of our mission and values of EmpathyQuality, and Partnership. We routinely check in with clients in the categories of Communication, Reliability, Quality, Innovation, Knowledge, and Support, and achieved an average score above 4.7.

We also continued to offer our insights and support to the community through open office hours, free training, and pro bono work on sites like Oak City Cares.

This year we’re already working on several projects that we hope to be able to complete in the coming months.

  • A Green Tech site for providing assessments of heavily-used technology companies.
  • Introduction of training & materials to support sustainable businesses with their startup technology needs.
  • Creation of a grant to cover technology expenses for small businesses and nonprofits.

If you have ideas or want to work with us on these goals, we would love to hear from you! Schedule a time for us to chat – and we’ll plant a tree!

What We’re Reading

We decided our previous format that simply listed “What We’re Reading” wasn’t getting it done. We already see many of you clicking on these links, but we want to give some context, and a starting point for engagement. We also just love to talk about this stuff.

Going forward we’ll include a sentence or two, plus a quote from one of the items to whet your appetite.

  • This post from Anna Mack talks about “How to focus when you want to do it all,” delivered with a handy revised Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. (shout out Angela Hollowell for the referral!)
  • Yes! An article that hits all the key points of why tech needs ethical and sustainable innovation. This post in TechieExpert talks about the emergence of “Tech for Good.” We’re here for it.
  • Some great tips for identifying (it’s the first step) and then overcoming procrastination with the DUST model. From the Medium Newsletter.
  • We often learn through the stories that we find personally impactful and this book had a major impact when I [Jen] read it in April 2024. It chronicles a major Canadian fire in 2016 to document the increasing danger of wildfires due to climate change.

[…] the CO2 emitted by the Australian bushfires of 2019-2020 more than compensated for the global reduction caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
