Since starting Marit Digital in 2022, I’ve seen more than my share of organizations in tough spots. In my experience, there is no single path that brings companies and non-profits to this point. It may be economic issues, a lack of experience, a bad vendor, or a combination of circumstances. The only thing they have in common is that they need help.
Over the years, Marit Digital has taken on several pro bono projects of varying sizes, and offered discounts for others where possible. Despite these efforts, we continue to see cases of websites breaking at the wrong time, security issues that needs urgent attention, or operational challenges that can’t wait.
Years ago, I heard about Venus Liles‘s ingenious Spark Grants for her company Liles Law. Legal issues – much like tech ones – can arrive without warning and have outsized impacts on your business. They can also be prohibitively expensive to address. Since then, I’ve endeavored to find a way to follow in Venus’s awesome footsteps with a similar solution for technology struggles.
Introducing Boost Grants
I’m extremely excited to announce that we’re starting our own grant program, the Boost Grants, to help companies get past their technical obstacles and move on to success.
Boost Grants are technology services made available to current or new clients of Marit Digital for free, or at deeply discounted rates.
Our goal is to fund this work through donations from the community, clients, and partners. We accept donations and sponsorship in 2 ways.
- Starting in the new year, existing Marit Digital clients have the ability to add a “tip” to their invoices. This amount goes directly to the “Boost Grants” fund.
Donating clients will be added to our list of supporters and receive a callouts in our newsletter and on LinkedIn. - You can visit our dashboard on Open Collective to contribute regular or one-time donations in support of the Boost Grant Fund. https://opencollective.com/marit-digital-boost-grants
Donating individuals and organizations will be added to our list of supporters and receive a callouts in our newsletter and on LinkedIn.
Regardless of support, we will continue to do at least one annual pro bono project, and offer discounts as we are able. If you – or someone you know – needs support for a small business or non-profit with technical issues, please get in touch.
On this Giving Tuesday – and every day – thank you for your support and partnership! use.
